SUNY Fredonia students, alumni and faculty will join the chorus in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” at Chautauqua Institution.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” will be presented in the Chautauqua Ampitheatre on Saturday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m.

The Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra will perform the score by Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer as the film is simultaneously screened.

Students in the chorus include Brody Brown, senior, Music Education, minor in Arts Administration, Buffalo, NY; Zachary Brudz, sophomore, Music Education, Lancaster, NY; Brendan Mathewson, senior, Music Education, Webster, NY; Michael Burns, senior, Music Performance, of Schenectady, NY; and Gunnar Nowicki, senior, Music Education, Hamburg, NY.

Faculty include Associate Professor and Director of Choral Activities Vernon Huff and Professor Emeritus Daniel Ihasz.

Alumni include Erin Alexander, 2023, Music Performance; Jamie Gangemi, 2022, Music Education; and Michael Teti, 2023, Music. Former students in the chorus are Tyler Huk and Ky Ver Hoef.

The SUNY Fredonia contingent that comprises 12 of the 15-member chorus answered the call to join the performance through SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus Julie Newell’s connection to Chautauqua.

The film, based on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” attraction at Disney parks, is the first installment of that film franchise. Tickets for the performance can be obtained at Chautauqua's main gate.
