Glimpses into life in Cuba will be revealed when Rockefeller Arts Center presents “Cuba's Secret Side” on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in King Concert Hall.
The Fredonia Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Paula Holcomb, will present its first concert of the season on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall. The program features Mark Engebretson's Concerto for Soprano Saxophone and Wind Ensemble with guest soloist Susan Fancher, and "Hemispheres" by Joseph Turrin.
Local artist James East will exhibit, “Recent Works: Landscapes,” from Nov. 9 to Dec. 11 at the Fredonia Technology Incubator. The exhibition can be viewed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. Parking is available in the incubator’s lot, accessible behind the building from Washington Street.
The Fredonia Wind Ensemble will welcome alumnus and U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Benjamin Albright to perform as a trumpet soloist at its concert on Thursday Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall. Staff Sgt. Albright will perform James Curnow’s “Counterpiece” and Bruce Broughton’s “Oliver’s Birthday,” while the wind ensemble will provide an evening full of wind classics and contemporary repertoire.
Fredonia’s Visual Arts and New Media students will be hosting an art sale on Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. All proceeds will benefit the Dunkirk Humane Society.
