Violinist Rachel Lee Priday will join the Fredonia College Symphony Orchestra for what is being called the orchestral event of the season on Saturday, March 7 at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall.
Registration is now open for the spring sessions of Pathways to Music, a series of developmentally age-appropriate classes designed to teach the joy of music to children ages 6 months through 5 years old. Classes will begin Feb. 10 and 14, 2015, in the gymnasium of the Campus and Community Children’s Center.
Separate off-campus exhibits of temporary art created by two groups of Fredonia Visual Arts and New Media students will be held this weekend in Dunkirk and Fredonia.
Seven students enrolled in Fredonia’s Visual Arts and New Media's Film and Video Arts program had the honor of having their works screened at the national Student Experimental Film Festival held Dec. 5 and 6 at Binghamton University.
198th U.S. Army Reserve Band, in conjunction with Pershing's Own, held a percussion competition in November. Several Fredonia students took part in the competition and one of the student ensembles won first place. Members of the 198th will be at the African Drumming Concert on Friday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m. to present the award to the percussion quartet.
The Fredonia Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Rudge, will present works from it fall tour on Monday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
A unique take on a Christmas classic will be offered at Fredonia when the Department of Theatre and Dance presents “It’s A Wonderful Life – The Radio Play” from Dec. 5 to 13. Seven performances are planned in Bartlett Theatre on the Fredonia campus as part of the 2014-15 Walter Gloor Mainstage Series.
A variety of works created by five graduating fine arts students at Fredonia will be on display when the Cathy and Jesse Marion Art Gallery hosts the exhibition, “Collectively Independent,” from Dec. 5 to 11. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Some of the most beloved Christmas classics of all time will come to life once again in big band style at Fredonia when Rockefeller Arts Center presents “The 2014 Big Band Christmas Spectacular” on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in King Concert Hall.
The Fredonia Wind Ensemble will be premiering, "Coast of Dreams for Wind Ensemble," by composer Paul Dooley at the group’s Thursday, Nov. 20 concert, to be held at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall. Dooley, a current lecturer in performing arts technology at the University of Michigan, will be present to discuss his new work.
