An already stellar reputation of Fredonia Radio Systems in the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System undoubtedly reached a new level at the 2024 conference, with the WCVF/WDVL staff receiving three first place awards and five finalist placements.

Fredonia Radio Systems’ eboard took a very important road trip to Buffalo, NY, to deliver a $1,445 check, representing proceeds raised at this year’s Rockin’ the Commons, to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
With more group activities planned and rock bands on board, Fredonia Radio Systems has its sights set on taking the 20th anniversary of “Rockin’ the Commons” – a fundraiser it hosts to benefit Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center – to a new level.
Fredonia Radio Systems picked up a first-place award – Best Music Director - Radio, presented to Jordan Budd – and was a finalist in a bundle of other major award categories at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s 2023 Conference.
Update - the event has been moved to the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. After a two-year absence, the large-scale live music concert will return to campus on Saturday, April 9, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“We just simply couldn’t rock without the Commons,” said Jackson DiCarlo, station manager of Fredonia Radio Systems.
Fredonia Department of Communication Professor Emeritus Dan Berggren, also an Adirondack folksinger for 45 years, has joined in the effort to brighten the days of those heeding the directive to stay close to home.
