Cereal Drive for needy families requesting donations

Christine Davis Mantai

“OPERATION BREAKFAST RESCUE,” the second Annual Cereal Donation Drive on campus, is taking donations of shelf-stable breakfast food items this week on Wednesday, March 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donors should drop off their goods in the Williams Center, Room G 139.  Shelf-stable items are things such as cereal, pancake mixes, oatmeal, breakfast bars, canned fruit, or Cream of Wheat.

The drive is to benefit the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, which distributes the goods to local families in need. Campus sponsors of the drive are the Office of Volunteer & Community Services, the Residence Assistance Advisory Board and the Student Association.

For information, individuals can contact Joyce Smith, coordinator of the Volunteer and Community Services program, and  groups can contact AmeriCorps VISTA by emailing Anand Perala,
