Concert showcases multitude of talent in School of Music faculty tonight at 8 p.m.

The SUNY Fredonia School of Music will present a Faculty Showcase Recital on Monday, March 30 at 8 p.m. at Rosch Recital Hall on the SUNY Fredonia Campus. The program features faculty members: Hilary Demske, piano; Mark Dubois, oboe; Sean Duggan, harpsichord; James East, clarinet;  Mario Falcao, harp; Natasha Farny, cello; Sarah Hamilton, oboe; Daniel Ihasz, baritone; Bruce Johnstone, saxophone; Laura Koepke, bassoon; Roderick MacDonald, trumpet; Lynne McMurtry, mezzo-soprano; Tiffany Nicely, marimba; Jannis Peterson, piano; James Piorkowski, guitar; David Rose, viola; Kay Stonefelt, percussion; Laurie Tramuta, mezzo-soprano; Matt Wilson, vibraphone; Maureen Yuen, violin; and guest artist Jordan Frazier, bass; and student Doug Feig, accordion.

The concert will feature works faculty members John Bacon and Rob Deemer in addition to works by Jan Dismas Zelenka, Paul Gordon, Camille Saint-Saens, and Michael Tilson Thomas.  The event is free and open to the public.

Strauss to conduct area concerts

Dr. Robert Strauss will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, or about, Buffalo, NY.
