Dr. Nancy Gee honored for human-animal interaction research

Dr. Nancy Gee has been named a Mars Corporation fellow for her human-animal interaction research. She has been working with the children in the Youngerman Preschool examining the effect of animal assisted interventions on the development of cognitive and motor skills of preschool children.

Recent work from her lab has suggested that preschool children execute gross motor skills tasks faster, but without sacrificing accuracy, in the presence of a therapy dog relative to when the dog is absent (Gee, Harris, & Johnson, 2007).

She has published this work in Anthrozoos and Reflections.
