Five from campus community on Art Trail this month

Alberto Rey (Visual Arts and New Media, Tom Janik (Geosciences), Lori Deemer (Music), Michael Long (Visual Arts and New Media), and Tom Malinoski (Director emeritus, Publications Services) are among the artists and art businesses that are featured on the upcoming Art Tour May 23 and 24.

The 2009 Chautauqua- Lake Erie Art Trail (CLEAT) Open Studio Tour will take place Memorial Day weekend (May 23rd & 24th). CLEAT runs from Silver Creek, NY to Sherman, NY, and features 19 artists and 15 art related businesses, including 5 of SUNY Fredonia’s own: Alberto Rey, Tom Janik, Lori Deemer, Michael Long, and Tom Malinoski. The artists work in a variety of art forms, including paintings, photographs, ceramics, sculptures, fabrics, stained glass, pottery, jewelry, drawings and wood turning.

Dr. Robert Strass will conduct the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus in “ WALK TOGETHER,” a concert to be performed at three sites in May and featuring “Tyler’s Suite,” a nine-song cycle about the life and death of Tyler Clementi, as well as songs from, for, or about Buffalo, NY.

Marrazzo conducts master classes

School of Music Assistant Professor Don Marrazzo gave a master class at Houghton University and also did a two-day residency at Detroit Opera to work with members of the Resident Artist Program.
