The Fredonia Guitar Quartet will be performing "The Spain Concert" for the Art of the Guitar Series - Composer's Alive! on Thursday, April 16th at 7 PM in Rosch Recital Hall.

Admission is free. This concert will include compositions by Roland Dyens (France), Stephen Funk Pearson (U.S.) and their director, Professor James Piorkowski. Also on the program are works by Antonio Vivaldi and John Bull.

This concert will feature the touring program that the Fredonia Guitar Quartet will play in Spain next month. The FGQ has been honored with invitations to perform at the Universidad de Oviedo and at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla, as part of their musical tour of Spain in late May.

This concert is part of the 2009 Art of the Guitar Festival, a collaborative event between the SUNY Fredonia School of Music, Ethos New Music Society, and the Fredonia Guitar Society, with additional funding provided by D'Addario Strings.

This year's series, “Composers Alive!” features music written for the guitar by living composers, and will include many world premiere performances. All concerts will take place in the acoustically delightful Rosch Recital Hall, located in Mason Hall on the SUNY Fredonia campus.
