Lantz to direct community program

Sherry Lantz will bring more than 20 years of experience in community and mental health work and management to the SUNY Fredonia/Dunkirk Community Partnerships as its new director.
 
The Community Partnership program is funded by the federal department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Outreach Partnership Centers (COPC) office and administered through the Research Foundation of the State University of New York.
 
Center for Rural Regional Development and Governance Director Leonard Faulk Jr. noted his appointment of Ms. Lantz as director fills the position held by Interim Director Rich Goodman.
 
Prior to joining SUNY Fredonia, Ms. Lantz was director of Food Programs for Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Inc. In this position, Ms. Lantz supervised the Friendly Kitchen, the Gleaning Project, the Chautauqua County Food Bank, Food Express, the Food Recovery Project and the Garment Gallery.
 
Previously, Ms. Lantz was Long Term Care Ombudsman, and solicited, trained, supervised and coordinated activities of volunteer advocates in long term care facilities in Chautauqua County. Additionally, Ms. Lantz, a licensed counselor, has had her own private counseling practice.
 
President Dennis L. Hefner noted, “SUNY Fredonia is pleased to have attracted someone with Ms. Lantz’s strong background in grantsmanship, community service, and advocacy. She will be an excellent liaison between the campus and the Dunkirk community, and definitely will move the partnership program forward.”
 
Ms. Lantz earned her master’s in industrial organizational psychology from the University of New Haven, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.
