Panel to discuss interrelations of tribal, state and federal legal systems

A panel focused on criminal law enforcement as it relates to interrelations of tribal, state and federal legal systems will be held on Wednesday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in Thompson Hall Room W101.

The discussion will feature Hilda Manuel, a member of the Native American group Tohono O'odham, who is currently serving as Associate Counsel for the Seneca Nation of Indians, and Cochise Redeye, a member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and former deputy and detective for the Erie County Sheriff’s Department.

The panel will discuss the unique tribal sovereignty that outlines the governance of criminal justice within Native American nations. The topic will lead to how and why state and federal agencies work in conjunction with Native American nations pertaining to crime.
