Renovations underway during semester break

A number of minor renovation projects at SUNY Fredonia will be underway during semester break (December 21 to January 23).  In addition to painting, cleaning and refinishing in many buildings, the following projects are scheduled:

Academic buildings:
• Campus and Community Children’s Center – continue work on the card access and CCTV camera installations
• Carnahan-Jackson Center – complete the card access and CCTV camera installations
• Carnahan-Jackson Center – relocate backflow preventer in the penthouse mechanical room
• Dods Hall – install new CCTV camera to view parking lot 10 area
• Dods Hall – refinish wood floor at the gym
• Fenton Hall – install new ADA compliant restroom at the second floor
• Fenton Hall – install new projection screen at lecture hall 105
• Fenton Hall – install new classroom seating at classrooms 175 and 179
• Gregory Hall – renovate second floor area to create room for University Police
• Gregory Hall – remove existing fuel tank for the old emergency generator
• Houghton Hall – test emergency showers
• Jewett Hall – test emergency showers
• Jewett Hall – refinish the first floor hallway floor
• Mason Hall – replace ceilings in the hallways of the three story section
• Mason Hall – remove existing double doors at studio 2059
• Mason Hall – install new heat pump
• Maytum Hall – repair interior water piping near the loading dock
• McEwen Hall – perform preventative maintenance on all seating in the lecture halls
• McEwen Hall – install new carpet and paint walls at the Radio Station
• McEwen Hall – install new carpet at computer labs 103 and 106
• McEwen Hall – complete the card access and CCTV camera installations including several interior door replacements
• McEwen Hall – create new storage area for Archives and Special Collections due to a future HVAC replacement project
• Natatorium – replace water pump and valve for the lap pool
• Reed Library – replace burned out lamps and ballasts in the stack area
• Reed Library – complete the card access installation at the doors to the temporary Academic Affairs office area
• Rockefeller Arts Center – install new wire cage at the basement Theatre storage area
• Rockefeller Arts Center – upgrade the fire alarm system at the roof hatches above the Marvel Theatre stage
• Rockefeller Arts Center – install additional electrical outlets at offices on the third floor
• Rockefeller Arts Center – complete the installation of new wall at the third floor mechanical room for Theatre storage
• Services Complex – continue work to remove the old central heating plant boilers and equipment
• Steele Hall – install new CCTV camera to view the Dods Grove and tennis court area
• Thompson Hall – install new interior entrance doors with automatic operators at the entrance near the Communication Disorders Office area
• Williams Center – install new folding partitions and doors at S104 to create three meeting rooms
• Williams Center – install new signage at S104
• Williams Center – upgrade existing lighting in the areas near the Credit Union and Student Accounts
• Various locations – test backflow preventers on the water service
• Parking Lot 10 at Dods Hall – install new hand railings at stairs leading to Mason Hall
• Perform tree maintenance at many locations on campus

Residence Halls:

• Alumni Hall – replace the drinking fountain at the second floor center hallway
• Disney Hall – seal and caulk shower walls
• Disney Hall – refinish brick floor at the main entrance to the lobby
• Eisenhower Hall – seal and caulk shower walls
• Eisenhower Hall – refinish brick floor at the main entrance to the lobby
• Gregory Hall – install new card reader and security at the 400 House second floor emergency exit
• Grissom Hall – seal and caulk shower walls
• Hendrix Hall – refinish brick floor at the main entrance to the lobby
• Hendrix Hall – install new carpet at the front office
• Igoe Hall – refinish brick floor at the main entrance to the lobby
• Igoe Hall – clean carpets in lobby areas
• Kasling Hall – seal and caulk shower walls
• Kasling Hall – install new handicapped accessible entrance at the main lobby
• McGinnies Hall – install new stair treads and paint railings at all three stairwells
• McGinnies Hall – remove existing fuel tank for the old emergency generator
• Nixon Hall – ResNet office improvements
• Abatement at several broken windows in the residence halls (weather pending)
 

In addition, there will be general office and hallway painting and floor cleaning and refinishing at many buildings.

Campus operations limited during semester break

Most campus buildings/businesses will be closed for 10 days, beginning on Friday, Dec. 24, through Sunday, Jan. 1, for the traditional break between fall and spring semesters. Limited hours of operation will be in effect at other facilities.
