New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has appointed Richard L. Alexander to the SUNY Fredonia College Council. His seven-year appointment is effective immediately and will conclude in 2019.

Mr. Alexander is currently the President and Chief Consultant of Alexander and Associates, a business development and management company he founded in 2006 which focuses on business start-up and expansion efforts. Prior to this, he served as Executive Director of the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency and its Economic Development Department from 1998 to 2006. He also spent 22 years as Chief Executive Officer of Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.

“It is a great honor to have been appointed by Governor Cuomo to serve on the SUNY Fredonia College Council,” Mr. Alexander said. “As a proud SUNY alumnus, a former SUNY Fredonia adjunct professor and a longtime county resident who has spent his career working to foster business and residential development in our region, I know firsthand what a wonderful resource this institution of higher learning is in our community. I look forward to continuing my work in this area, and to working with President Horvath and my fellow council members over the next several years.”

Mr. Alexander, a Fredonia resident, joins nine other council members including Chairperson Frank Pagano of Fredonia, Cynthia A. Ahlstrom of Dunkirk, Angelo Bennice of Dunkirk, Michael Cerrie of Dunkirk, Russell Diethrick of Jamestown, Robert Heichberger of Gowanda, JoAnn Niebel of Dunkirk, and Carla Westerlund of Greenhurst. Student Association President Jordan Nicholson, a senior Social Studies Adolescent Education major from Mayville, serves as the student representative.

The Fredonia College Council meets quarterly on campus. More information about the council is available at www.fredonia.edu/collegecouncil.
