Work by Robert Deemer performed in 20th century concert

The SUNY Fredonia School of Music presents the second 20th Century Music Concert on Saturday, March 15, at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. It is free and open to the public. The program includes work written by Composition Professor, Robert Deemer, who joined the Fredonia faculty this year.

The second of a two-concert series, it is designed to be “user-friendly,” and will include detailed program notes as well as discussion from the stage between works.

Performers will be members of the Fredonia School of Music faculty, as well as two outstanding music students. 

The program includes John Harbison’s Concerto for Oboe and Clarinet, Lukas Foss’s 13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, SUNY Fredonia’s new composition professor Robert Deemer’s La Maja Dolorosa and 3 Diversions for 2 Oboes by Jeffrey Rathbun. 

Faculty performers are Maureen Yuen, Shinobu Takagi, Susan Royal, Jannis Peterson, Kay Stonefelt, David Rose, James East, Wildy Zumwalt, Anne Fronckowiak, and Mary Marden Cobb.  

The two outstanding student performers are Scott Horsington and Sipkje Pesnichak.
