MordmullerThe works of two artists from Germany will be on display in the art gallery at the State University of New York at Fredonia beginning Friday, March 5. “Works on Paper: Mordmüller and Rohrmann” is an international exhibition of work by two artists, Rainer Mordmüller and Thomas Rohrmann, from the University of Osnabruck, Germany.

An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 5 in the gallery lobby, located on the main level of Rockefeller Arts Center. The reception and the exhibition are free and open to the public.

A companion exhibition in the Emmitt Christian Gallery, located on the second floor of Rockefeller Arts Center, highlights work from students at the University of Osnabruck chosen by Mordmüller and Rohrmann for this international exhibit.

Art Gallery Director Tina Hastings said this is an important show for the art gallery because it will showcase the works of international artists and create the possibility for the exchange of student work in the future.

“We don’t often have the ability to bring international artists to the gallery, but through the generous support of the Carnahan-Jackson Humanities Fund we were able to purchase frames for works on paper, which allowed us to keep the cost of shipping from Germany at a minimum,” Hastings said. “I hope that it will be interesting for students to see work created by students from Germany and that it will generate excitement about having their work chosen for an exhibition at the University of Osnabruck in the future.”

The exhibit runs through April 6. Gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
