Young Philosophers Lecture Series returns April 10

Catherine Sutton, assistant professor of philosophy at Virginia Commonwealth University, will speak at the first Young Philosophers Lecture Series of the spring semester on Thursday, March 6 at Williams Center Room S204.
Dr. Sutton’s first lecture, “Can Two Things Exist in the Same Place at the Same Time?” is geared toward the general community and will be held at 12:30 p.m. “A Supervenience Solution to the Too-Many-Thinkers Problem,” Sutton’s research talk for professional philosophers and upper level philosophy students, will be presented at 5 p.m.
Dr. Sutton, who specializes in metaphysics, received a doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Virginia in 2008. She wrote, “Colocated Objects, Tally-Ho: A Solution to the Grounding Problem,” which appeared in the philosophy journal, Mind, published by Oxford University Press.
Justin Capes, lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Humanities at East Tennessee State University, will be the guest speaker at the second lecture on Thursday, April 10.
