Italian Culture

Italian culture is extremely rich and internationally revered. Often, Italian culture has been transposed in those countries to which many Italians emigrated, such as Argentina, Australia, or the United States.

Italy has a central role in history since the Roman Empire, while it has a strong tradition in the arts and architecture (Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo), music (opera and singers such as Caruso, Luciano Pavarotti, or Andrea Bocelli), theater (pièces by Carlo Goldoni and Luigi Pirandello), literature (Divine Comedy by Dante or The Prince by Machiavelli), cinema (La dolce vita by Federico Fellini or Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni), and soccer (Italy has won four World Cups). Italian cuisine is recognized as amongst the best food worldwide with pizza and spaghetti exported everywhere, while Italian fashion (Valentino, Armani, Gucci, Versace, Dolce e Gabbana) is also recognized worldwide.

Moreover, Italy has been a favorite destination for vacations since the Grand Tour in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries because of its cities (Venice, Florence, Rome, Siena, Naples, and Milan), arts, music, weather, food, nature, and beaches. And today, Italy is the second most chosen country by American students for study abroad!
