The Honors Program offers students a rich academic experience designed to both challenge and support student learning through special seminar courses taught by outstanding faculty members active in their fields.

Additionally, the Honors Program offers a number of distinctive benefits:

  • Priority Course Registration helps Honors students get the courses they need when they need them, making it easier to complete a second major or minor.
  • Honors Seminars are distinctive classes often not taught elsewhere on campus.
  • Honors Sections of Fredonia Foundations Courses allow students to engage in elevated interdisciplinary experiences with a like-minded cohort. Course caps are often lower in Honors sections.
  • Honors House provides a residential community experience with like-minded individuals. There is also additional programming to enhance a sense of belonging.
  • Honors Program Scholarship (a one-time award of $1500) is on top of any other academic index award. The Honors Scholarship is disbursed as $375 per semester over four semesters so long as a student remains in good standing in the Honors Program.
  • Honors Lounge (2148 Fenton Hall) offers a space to chill out between classes, connect with peers, or meet with Honors staff.
  • Honors Learning Contracts and Internships may replace any one Honors course. Students can progress through the program while gaining the hands-on experience that graduate programs and employers value.
  • Honors Advising provides secondary advising support, helping students to progress through the Honors curriculum.
  • Honors Events run the gamut. They build community through peer-led social gatherings. They educate and inspire through guest talks by campus figures and well-known professionals in their field. They help current students get ready for their future by developing leadership skills, cultivating career readiness, and instilling a wellness mindset.
