Gift by Biology alum funds new imaging system

Student and faculty research projects in Jewett Hall biology classes are being greatly enhanced by the gift of a new Syngene gel documentation system, thanks to a donation by Dr. Christopher Mirabelli, '77, who has held senior research and development positions in the pharmaceutical industry.

Hagan Award recipient Dr. Neil Feit to give lecture

Dr. Neil Feit, recipient of the 2009 William T. Hagan Young Scholar/Artist Award at SUNY Fredonia, will present the lecture, “Mental Representation and the Self,” on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 4 p.m. in McEwen Hall Room 209. The lecture will be followed by a reception and the public is invited to attend.

Bilingual education in Wales topic of int'l Brown Bag

In the first of a series of presentations by Fredonia scholars, Dr. Kate Mahoney and her students will discuss the Fredonia/Wales exchange program. Dr. Mahoney and College of Education students travelled to Swansea, Wales in May as part of the 20-year-old College of Education exchange program that brings SUNY Fredonia students into Welsh classrooms.

Women's Studies hosts women's rights webcast by "New York Times" columnist Kristof

The Women’s Studies and Journalism Departments are presenting an archived webcast with New York Times columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner Nicholas Kristof on Monday, October 12 at 7 p.m. in 101 Jewett Hall. The webcast, titled, “Half the Sky,” is based on Kristof’s recent book, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, which he co-authored with Sheryl WuDunn
