Three Fredonia students, Ahou Marlene N’Guessan, Devin Johnson and Kordell Hammond, have been selected as Rosa Parks Scholarship recipients for their artistic submissions on social injustice, cultural perspective and activism.
New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced the inaugural class of Fellows at SUNY's Hispanic Leadership Institute, including Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Carmen Rivera. The institute is charged with developing and supporting the next generation of executive-level Hispanic/LatinX leaders across SUNY.
The 36th Educational Development Program (EDP) Awards Ceremony and Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society Induction are slated for Wednesday, March 21, at 4 p.m., in the Multipurpose Room of the Williams Center. EDP will recognize the achievement of students who have excelled in the classroom and contributed to the community.
Dr. Courtney Wigdahl-Perry of the Department of Biology has been selected to be a member of one of the governor’s steering committees devoted to preventing and responding to algae blooms. As a component of the Governor’s Harmful Algae Blooms (HAB) Initiative, the steering committee will meet on Monday, March 26, at Monroe Community College.
Fredonia will be holding its Student Research and Creativity Exposition once again on Thursday, April 26, from noon until 5 p.m., in the Williams Center. The keynote speaker is School of Music faculty member Dr. Jill Reese.

As many math enthusiasts around the world are aware, “Pi Day” (celebrated March 14) is just around the corner. As the date nears, students and staff in the Department of Mathematical Sciences are preparing to celebrate with their annual Pi Day event, to be held March 7 to avoid conflicts with the scheduled spring break.
Insight into being a New York City-based filmmaker and playwright will be shared at multiple sessions by alumna Sarah T. Schwab at Writers at Work, a residency that brings alumni who write professionally in a range of workplaces back to campus. Also included in the residency, to be held on Thursday and Friday, March 22 and 23, is a screening of Ms. Schwab's first film.
Fredonia welcomed local ninth graders on March 5 to jump start their interest in college by taking part in numerous pre-college activities. They had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Financial Aid and Admissions, and graduate assistants from the College of Education led interactive sessions.
