Artist and illustrator Andrea Dezsö will speak about the business aspects of her work and career at the Fredonia Technology Incubator’s Arts and Business Luncheon series Friday, Sept. 15, from noon to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided; however, since space is limited, a registration is required.
Student entries for the Claudette Sorel Piano Competition, an annual event that celebrates the creativity and excellence of young pianists and awards cash prizes, are being accepted by the School of Music. For the first round, participants are to submit an online entry form (there is no application fee) and provide a link to a high-quality video of a piece they are passionate about, approximately five to eight minutes in length. The deadline to apply is Sept. 25.
The Fredonia Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Paula Holcomb, will escort music enthusiasts on an exhilarating journey on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 8 p.m., in King Concert Hall. “Short Ride on a Fast Machine,” John Adams’ American classic of his ride on a fast machine through the hills of California, will open the concert.
One of William Shakespeare’s most popular works will be the next offering in the Walter Gloor Mainstage Series. The Department of Theatre and Dance will present six performances of “Much Ado About Nothing” from Nov. 30 through Dec. 3 in Bartlett Theatre. The director is Theatre and Dance Professor Paul Mockovak.
The Fredonia Summer Music Festival has a long history of providing high school students with a friendly and relaxed setting for musical growth.The Band and Honors Solo Vocal programs are offered on Sunday, June 25 through Saturday, July 1, with a new Strings program slated for Sunday, July 16 through Saturday, July 22.
The Castleman Quartet Program, in-residence at Fredonia during June and July, includes a concert series of performances by talented young string musicians. All recitals are in Rosch Recital Hall unless otherwise noted. Admission is by donation of $5.
Registration is now open for Fredonia School of Music summer courses for music education professionals and graduate students, with the option of enrolling either for graduate credit or for Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) credit. A wide range of courses will be offered.

The Department of Theatre and Dance presents “The Pirates of Penzance” from March 31 to April 8.
Liz Callaway, an acclaimed Broadway singer and voice of beloved female characters in Disney animated films, will conduct a master class on Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in Mason Hall Room 1080.The master class was originally scheduled in January but was cancelled due to weather conditions. Tickets purchased for the original date will be honored at the door.
