The 18th century will meet the 1980s when the Hillman Opera presents its whimsical take on Italian composer Domenico Cimarosa’s masterpiece “Il Matrimonio Segreto” (“The Secret Marriage”) in November.
After spending the 2020-21 season presenting its performances in a virtual format, the Department of Theatre and Dance has returned to live, in-person events with the Fredonia Dance Ensemble performing its Fall Chamber Concert in November.
Bachelor of Fine Arts Dance students will perform a new work by guest artist Christopher K. Morgan, executive director of Dance Place, Washington, D.C., at the Fredonia Dance Ensemble’s Fall Chamber Concert at the Merrins Dance Theatre in November.
The Department of Theatre and Dance will open its 2021-22 Walter Gloor Mainstage Series in October with a brand-new production, “New Works Now!” in Bartlett Theatre.
Jong Sang Rheu, a senior majoring in Musical Theatre from Busan, South Korea, has been named Student of the Month for October by the Office of Residence Life. Mr. Rheu was nominated by Department of Theatre and Dance faculty members Dr. Jessica Hillman-McCord and Professor Paul W. Mockovak.
Applications are being accepted from students within Fredonia as well as prospective students looking to transfer from other universities or community colleges who are interested in enrolling in the B.F.A. Dance or B.F.A. Theatrical Production and Design programs.
Department of Sociocultural and Justice Sciences Assistant Professor Michael Clarkson-Hendrix and Department of Theater and Dance’s Assistant Professor Paula J. Peters presented “Teaching Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice Through an Example: Educational Implications from The Empowerment Through Movement and Stillness Workshop,” at the New York State Social Work Education Association’s 51st Conference.
