Dr. Nicholas Quintyne of the Department of Biology was used to hearing from former students. However, he had never gotten a request quite like the one he received from Dr. Michael Metzner in early September. Metzner had decided to take a break from his surgical residency in San Antonio and began working as one of the surgical consultants on the set of “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Three faculty members in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will share the podium to explore “Science in the Age of Alternative Facts” in the Brown Bag lunch series on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at noon in Williams Center Room S204.

Patterson Library in Westfield will host a preview screening of “Among the Hemlocks, Fantastic Stories from Fredonia, NY,” a documentary by Roslin Smith, assistant professor of Communication, on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. The film depicts the history of Fredonia using voices of its residents.
Dr. Junaid Zubairi of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences has had a research article published in the Hindawi Journal of Computer Networks and Communications. The article, "IoT-Based Ambulatory Vital Signs Data Transfer System," was published in the November 2018 issue.
Department of English Professor Birger Vanwesenbeeck had two essays published in the “Los Angeles Review of Books.”
English professor Birger Vanwesenbeeck was invited to participate in a one-day symposium, held in Be'er Sheva, Israel, on Oct. 31, devoted to the work and career of the Israeli literary scholar Mark Gelber on the occasion of the latter's retirement.
Each year, Fredonia students hoping to enter the medical field spend thousands of dollars to take preparatory courses for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and to apply to medical schools. It is why local Fredonia potter and biology professor Dr. Ted Lee started the Health Professional School Preparation Scholarship Fund. A pottery sale to benefit the fund will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14
“The Paper Chase,” a movie that some critics say defined a generation and yet remains relevant four decades after its release, will be presented at Fredonia as part of the year-long Convocation series “The Search for Justice” on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m.
