Students of the Fredonia School of Music Cello Studio, along with faculty members Natasha Farny (cello) and Angela Haas (voice), will be traveling to Suffolk County, Long Island for performances at seven different schools from Sept. 14 through Sept. 17.

The tour culminates with a recital back in Fredonia on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall, featuring Spanish-inspired music for cello and mixed ensemble.

The featured work on their tour program is Heitor Villa Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras #5 for eight Cellos and Soprano, featuring both students and faculty performers. In addition, the group will perform cello music ranging from solo works to cello quartets and octets.

During the concert at SUNY Fredonia, faculty members James Piorkowski and Natasha Farny will perform the world premiere of Piorkowski's duet for guitar and cello, El Camino a Oviedo. The concert also includes Villa-Lobos’ beautiful work for eight cellos and voice. The concert is free and open to the public.

All cello majors, the student performers are Paul Swensen (Performance), John Kluge (Music Education), Jacob Ferrante (Sound Recording Technology/Performance),  Isaac Tayrien (Music Education/Performance), Robert Davies (Music Education), Emily Grissing (Performance) and  David King (Sound Recording Technology).
