By Kimberly R. Hughes

The fourth “Slush Rush” 5K race/walk to benefit the Xylia Peterson, ’85, Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held on Sunday, March 3, at 9 a.m. at SUNY Fredonia. The event is open to students, faculty and staff members, and community members.

Pre-registration is available online by visiting https://www.fredonia.edu/internationaleducation where there is a link to the Slush Rush. SUNY Fredonia students may use their FredCards to register up until Friday, March 1, but must come to the International Education Office in LoGrasso Hall to do so. Race Day registration is from 7:30 until 8:45 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the Williams Center. The race begins behind Steele Hall.

Registration is $20 and includes a T-shirt, refreshments and raffle tickets.

The “Slush Rush” raises money for a scholarship for full time juniors and seniors who are international education students at SUNY Fredonia. The race is in honor of Ms. Peterson, an alumna of Class of ’85 who passed away tragically in an automobile accident. She was an active member in the community and worked at the Chautauqua Day Care, Lakeview Shock Incarceration and on the SUNY Fredonia campus.

The course for the race is certified, and official times will be available for all participants in the race. Medals will be awarded to the top two females and males of each age category. There is a post-race party in the Williams Center.

For information on the event, please contact the public relations intern for the Department of International Education Department, Ashley Enekes, at enek8005@fredonia.edu.
