Graphic designer Noah Scalin, whose Skull-A-Day online art project has an international following, will open the spring 2012 Visiting Artist Program at SUNY Fredonia on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8:30 p.m., at 209 McEwen Hall.

Scalin launched Skull-A-Day in June 2007, pledging to create a new skull design each day for an entire year. He went on to create 366 designs, allowing for the leap year in 2008. New versions of Skull-A-Day with original skull art submissions from readers of the website -- beginning with Skull-A-Day 2.0 -- followed in subsequent years. Scalin’s original Skull-A-Day project images have been exhibited in galleries.

Skull-A-Day was transformed into a book published by an imprint of Sterling Publishing Company in 2008. Scalin went on to write several books on creativity, art and design.

A graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts in New York City, Scalin created his own design and consulting firm, Another Limited Rebellion, to assist emerging businesses with design and marketing services. His belief in social responsibility is at the core of the firm, which serves businesses that benefit their respective communities and have limited resources.

The Visiting Artists Program brings professionals from all fields of the art world to campus.
