  • Alley Theatre will work with the Marion Fellow to design a visit specifically to their interests. Please talk to the Managing Director (above) to work out specifics before submitting your application. 
  • If interest is technical theatre we will schedule a residency around the production area.
  • If interest is acting, we will design the residency around the rehearsal and performance process.
  • The Alley will provide a parking pass and complementary tickets for performances.
  • Food, lodging and transportation are the responsibility of the Marion Fellow.

Ucross Foundation

Eligibility to apply:

  • Ucross Fellows in the Visual and Performing Arts  
  • Former Ucross Foundation Fellows must wait 2 and 1/2 years after their last Ucross residency to apply for the Marion International Fellowship.

Resources available to Marion Fellow*

  • Residencies from between 2-4 weeks include a private studio/work space, plus private bedroom (shared bathroom).
  • Transportation to and from the Sheridan Airport to Ucross (30 miles each way) will be provided.
  • Lunches and dinners prepared by a chef, Monday through Friday.  Food also provided for all other meals.
  • At group dinners, there will be a community of up to 9 other artists, writers, and composers in residence. 
  • Introduction to the area by Ucross staff including tours of the 20,000-acre ranch; hiking tips for the ranch as well as nearby Bighorn Mountains; weekly trips to either Buffalo or Sheridan for errands and exploring.

  • The Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) will work with the Marion Fellow to design a visit that specifically supports their research and creative activity endeavors, taking into consideration the time of the year of their visit as some of our facility may or may not be open. Preference is for the visit to occur during the Fall or Winter semesters (September-April) so that students can also potentially benefit from the visit.

Access to resources listed below may be limited if the visit does not occur during the Fall or Winter semesters . Please note that access and travel restrictions may also be in place due to COVID-19 public health requirements.

  • Accommodations on campus (SAIT), may be available.
  • Limited studio space, depending on period of residency.
  • Access to AUArts faculty, depending on period of residency.
  • Access to studio facilities (such as Woodshop, ceramics kilns…), depend on availability.
  • Access to audiovisual equipment, depend on availability.
  • Access to the Luke Lindoe Library.
  • Possible daytrip to the Rockies - itinerary dependent on interests and timing.
