SUNY Fredonia’s Hillel will be hosting multiple events celebrating Jewish History Month. Hillel will kick-off the celebration with a Holocaust speaker at its opening ceremonies on Thursday, April 3, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Williams Center Room S204ABC, funded by the Honors Program.
A team of SUNY Fredonia students including Nicholas Ahlstrom, Christopher Shartrand and John Tucker competed in the 2014 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM), sponsored by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications. The team was recently notified that they received an honorable mention for their work.
Graduating seniors in the Women’s and Gender Studies program will present the result of their research at the Gender and Social Change Symposium on Wednesday, April 30, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Williams Center Room S204D.
Rockin' The Commons, Fredonia Radio Systems' annual Roswell Park Cancer Institute fundraiser event/ concert usually held in April, has been moved to Sept. 27 in Barker Commons. The organization will be hosting an alternative spring event, Rockin' The Spot, at the Tim Hortons Café and Bake Shop in the Williams Center on Thursday, April 24.
The Annual Community Meeting of the Faculty Student Association of State University College at Fredonia, New York, Inc. called by FSA President, Karen Porpiglia, will be held in the Horizon Room in the Williams Center, on Tuesday, April 29, at 3:30 p.m.
“Who I Was to Who I Am,” a panel discussion to support the 2013-2014 Convocation theme, “Raising Cultural Awareness and Building Global Relations,” will take place on Friday, April 11, from noon to 2 p.m. in Williams Center Room 204E. The free event is intended for international faculty and students to come together and share their stories with the campus and community.
The Fredonia Poetry Festival will be held Monday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. in McEwen Hall Room 209. The festival is sponsored by the Writer's Ring, the Women’s Student Union and the Pride Alliance.

A free panel discussion, “Educational Systems around the World: From Elementary School to University,” will be held Monday, April 14 at 3 p.m. in Williams Center Room 204. The panel is open to both the campus and local communities and refreshments will follow. The event is part of the 2013-2014 SUNY Fredonia Convocation Series.
The Women and Gender Studies Program and Women’s Student Union are sponsoring several events in March and April in observance of Women’s History Month, including the 16th annual Gender Conference to celebrate student research in women’s studies and gender areas on Wednesday, April 9, at 4 p.m. in Williams Center Room 204D.
