Fredonia grads to speak at first-ever Infant/Toddler Summer Institute

Alumni from Fredonia’s Early Childhood Education program will have key roles in the inaugural Infant/Toddler Summer Institute, a collaboration of seven Western New York-based organizations, on Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27, at Jamestown Community College’s North County Training and Conference Center.

Dahlgren pens ‘Ivory Tower Misfits’ chapter in newly published ‘Cinema U’

Robert L. Dahlgren, associate professor and chair of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, welcomed publication of "Ivory Tower Misfits: The Images of College Professors in Hollywood Films,” a chapter he wrote in the newly published volume "Cinema U: Representations of Higher Education in Popular Film," by Fourth Horseman Press.

Fredonia implements accelerated program leading to M.S. in Education

The path for students who want to become elementary teachers with additional certifications in special education and literacy has been shortened and some of their tuition expenses lowered, thanks to a program recently approved by the New York State Education Department. Highly motivated students seeking New York state certification in this field can earn a B.S and M.S in Education in five years.

College of Education announces new certification programs

The New York State Department of Education has approved a dual certification program at Fredonia that will prepare students to be certified to teach in both early childhood and elementary school settings. Also initiated last semester was a Certificate of Advanced Study in School District Leadership.

New student teaching opportunities are available in Australia and Mexico

The first cohort of nine Fredonians will student teach abroad through the University of Sunshine Coast (USC) in Australia in Spring 2011. Fredonia has also completed a new student teaching program with the University of Puebla (UPAEP) in Oaxaca, Mexico.
