The New Horizons Band of Western New York will present a Fall Concert at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19 at Fredonia High School Auditorium in Fredonia, N.Y. The concert is free, but the band would appreciate donations of non-perishable food that will be donated to the Food Pantry of the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry.
The first of four forums in the “Lundine Series” will focus on school consolidation Monday, Dec. 1, at 8 a.m. in Williams Center Room S104 at SUNY Fredonia. “This public discussion will complement the existing efforts to improve the efficiency of our school system in Chautauqua County,” said Chuck Cornell, director of the SUNY Fredonia Center for Rural Regional Development and Governance (CRRDG).
Under the direction of musician and faculty member John Bacon, the Fredonia Latin Jazz Ensemble will perform new arrangements of works by Horace Silver, Duke Ellington, and Pixinguinha in a concert on Monday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. in Diers Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to students, faculty, and the general public.

Two Native American films will be screened on the SUNY Fredonia campus during November. The screenings are hosted by the Native American Student Union and the Native American SUNY Western Consortium as part of National American Indian Heritage Month. All students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to attend the free screenings.

The Musical Journeys Program will continue its third season of free concerts designed to appeal to very young children on Saturday, Nov. 15 in the Dunkirk Free Library, when a female vocal ensemble will perform. “This venue gives preschool children a great chance to get close to the musicians and the music; to really participate and experience music intended just for them,” said Sarah Hamilton, associate professor of oboe.
