New Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra recording features works custom-made for the Nickel City featuring Fredonia faculty

The follow-up CD to 2015’s ultra-popular “Built For Buffalo” recording of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra features two Fredonia faculty. “Built For Buffalo 2" released on the BPO’s house label, Beau Fleuve, and recorded over four years, it features the world premiere recordings of three pieces commissioned for BPO musicians.

Community invited to play historic Van Cliburn piano

The Fredonia School of Music’s third Sorel Piano Competition in November will include a special feature, made possible through the generosity of the Steinway Company, showcasing Van Cliburn’s personal Steinway piano. Members of the community are also invited to play on the historic instrument during the three-day installation on the Fredonia campus.

Claudette Sorel Piano Competition finals, Nov. 3

A highly select group of young pianists will perform in the final round of the Claudette Sorel Piano Competition on Saturday, Nov. 3, beginning at noon, at Rosch Recital Hall. The pool of 30 talented applicants – the largest ever in the competition’s three-year history – represent 12 states and three foreign countries.
