If you have a favorite author who came of age in the aftermath of World War I, consider yourself invited to “World War I Centennial: Ending War, Talking Peace.” The two-day public event at Fredonia commemorating the end of the “Great War” will feature readings by veterans and campus and community members of favorite literary works – essays, poems and excerpts from novels – from that era.
Fulbright Professor Mónika Fodor, an author of narrative, identity, and translation studies, will visit Fredonia this month to give presentations on her research and on politics in Hungary.
The Umbra Institute, a study abroad organization based in Perugia, Italy, will be sending a representative to Fredonia on Tuesday, Feb. 13 to visit classrooms and give presentations to students.
Fredonia is the newest institutional member of the Fulbright Association, joining over 200 U.S. colleges and universities. It is the third SUNY campus, along with SUNY Buffalo State and Oswego, to become a member of the official U.S. alumni organization of Fulbright programs.

L.A. Paul, Eugene Falk Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of North Carolina and Professorial Fellow at the University of St. Andrews, is speaking April 25 at 12 p.m. in McEwen Hall Room G24. Dr. Paul will talk about her book, “Transformative Experience.”

The classification identifies colleges and universities that provide the best opportunities for veterans and their spouses, according to data from federal agencies, veteran students and proprietary survey information from participating organizations, as well as public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide.
Dr. Sozanne Solmaz of the Department of Chemistry at SUNY Binghamton will be visiting campus on Wednesday, March 21, to present a lecture on her research, which is focused on the importance of nuclear positioning in brain development. The lecture is slated for 4 p.m. in the Science Center’s Kelly Family Auditorium (Room 105).
