Fredonia students help to develop Excelsior scholarship online application

When junior Cody Beckwith took a job as a work study in the Financial Aid Office, he never dreamed he would have an impact on thousands of college students across the state for years to come.That is exactly what happened when Beckwith and eight other Fredonia students were involved in an effort to ensure the state’s Higher Education Services Corp. Excelsior Scholarship application process was easy to understand for all students.

Erie County Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams to deliver guest lecture on women in politics

Erie County (N.Y.) Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams will be visiting Fredonia on Monday, April 16, to offer a lecture on women in politics in Williams Center Room S204 at 1 p.m. Williams will offer tips on how to become civically engaged, and provide insight on both her experiences as a politician, and her many years of service to the community.

Community event for children planned by students

The Eighth Egg Hunt held by Kappa Sigma in coordination with Volunteer and Community Services for children in the local community is slated for Sunday, April 15. It is a free event.

Hail! Fredonia Records hosts second dog walk

Hail! Fredonia Records, as part of the Student Record Label class in the Music Industry Program at Fredonia, has announced its second dog walk, ”Lend a Paw for Autism: Star Paws,” to take place on Sunday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., on campus.

National Poetry Month celebrated in April

Reed Library is celebrating National Poetry Month with the installation of a "Poem Dispenser." Created using a Raspberry Pi 3 and thermal printer, the dispenser prints out a random poem at the push of a button.

Clothing drive underway to benefit Salvation Army

Even though the weather suggests otherwise, it’s time to clean out closets and drawers and support the annual Spring Clothing Drive hosted by Fredonia’s Greek Council to benefit the local Salvation Army, Monday through Wednesday, April 9 to 11, from noon to 5 p.m.

Leadership Awards to be presented to students

Students who exemplify outstanding leadership and/or service to their fellow classmates and/or their community will be formally recognized at the annual Leadership Awards Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, May 2, 5 p.m., in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.Tickets, $2 for Fredonia students with ID and $3 for non-students, can be purchased at the Fredonia Ticket Office.

Student art sale on April 23

Students from various fields in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media will be selling their work at a student art sale in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room on Monday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thirty percent of the proceeds will be going to a local food pantry.
