Devils close '17 with SUNYAC win over Oswego

Fredonia closed out the 2017 season with an inspirational 5-3 win over Oswego State in the consolation round of the SUNYAC Women's Tennis Tournament. Singles winners were sophomore junior Olivia Miller (Springwater) at No. 2, junior Adriana Speach (Baldwinsville) at No. 5, and junior Avril King (Naples, N.Y.) at No. 6.

Another shutout, this time to tie Plattsburgh

For the third straight game, Fredonia men's soccer has shut out a conference opponent. Its latest whitewash came Saturday afternoon at Plattsburgh, yet this time it resulted in a tie. Unable to muster scoring, the Blue Devils (8-5-2 overall, 2-3-2 SUNYAC) and Cardinals played to a 0-0 deadlock after double overtime.

Scoreless tie earns important point for Devils

Fredonia withstood an onslaught of shots for a 0-0 double-overtime tie Saturday with Plattsburgh in SUNYAC women's soccer at University Stadium. Outshot 39-9 over the 110 minutes, the Blue Devils (6-9-1 overall, 2-4-1 SUNYAC) managed a point while the Cardinals (10-3-2 overall, 5-0-2 SUNYAC) secured a playoff spot into the upcoming conference tournament.

Maguire, Joseph earn SUNYAC weekly honors

Fredonia swept the SUNYAC Cross County Runner of the Week awards, announced Monday. Merlin Joseph Jr., a senior from Binghamton, and Emily Maguire, a junior from Oakdale, had outstanding efforts at the Houghton Highlander Invitational.

Devils complete weekend Pool Play sweep

It was a perfect SUNYAC Pool Play weekend for the Fredonia women's volleyball team. The Blue Devils improved to 5-1 in the conference (13-7 overall) with victories Saturday first over Potsdam, then over Oswego, by 3-1 scores. They were also 3-1 winners Friday over Oneonta and trail only Brockport for the top spot in the conference.

Devils edge Oswego, 1-0, to stay in hunt

Fredonia stayed in SUNYAC men's soccer playoff contention with a 1-0 home win Saturday over Oswego. Conrad Rathbun, a sophomore forward, the game's lone goal while sophomore goalkeeper Ty Bentham made 13 saves as the Blue Devils improved to 7-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the SUNYAC.

Women's tennis continues its winning season

Fredonia women's tennis defeated D'Youville, 9-0, to improve to 8-1 this fall. Two Blue Devils, junior Olivia Miller (Springwater) and freshman Sarah Bunk (Sayville), improved to 9-0 in singles, while sophomore Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg) moved to 8-1. The school record for singles wins in a season is 10, set by Chiacchia last season.

Devils, Bengals play to 1-1 draw

Fredonia rallied to earn a 1-1 tie with SUNY Buffalo State in SUNYAC men's soccer Saturday afternoon. Ryan Ross (Grand Island) converted a 2-on-1 breakaway early in the 58th minute on a pass from Matt Belardi (Niagara Falls, N.Y.). It was the team-leading fourth goal of the season for Ross and came just under two minutes after SUNY Buffalo State had taken a 1-0 lead.

Devils cash in on Yoko-to-Clemons combo

Fredonia junior forward Aleeya Clemons (Olean) scored three goals, each on passes from senior midfielder Audrey Yokopovich (Webster), to lead the Blue Devils to a 3-1 SUNYAC women's soccer win over SUNY Buffalo State.

Quimby named Defensive Athlete of the Week

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced that the Defensive Athlete of the Week in women's soccer is first-year student Marissa Quimby. A first-year student from Ballston Lake, Quimby posted back-to-back clean sheets over St. John Fisher and Brockport, her second and third shutouts of the season.
