Hall of Fame Class of '16 announced

After waiting for years to make its mark on the national stage, Fredonia had two women win national championships in less than one week. Julia (Hopson) Williamson won the 20-pound weight throw at the 2009 NCAA Division III indoor track & field meet, and five days later, Kelly Sponholz won the NCAA Division III 3-meter springboard diving championship with a record score. The two 2009 graduates and four others will be inducted into the Fredonia Blue Devil Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Cranston Marche during Homecoming Weekend.

Devils score first win of 2016

Fredonia held off a comeback bid by Denison for a 10-7 women's lacrosse win Sunday afternoon at University Stadium. Sophomore midfielder Audrey Yokopovich (Webster/Webster Thomas) and freshman midfielder Jade Williams (Tully/Lafayette) each had three goals while junior midfielder Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia/Cazenovia) had a goal and two assists for the Blue Devils.

Long awaited, Feldman breaks 400 record again

What Brittany Feldman (Jamestown/Southwestern) hoped to accomplish all season long finally came to pass on Saturday as she broke 58 seconds in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.56, surpassing her previous school record of 58.11. Her time, which was also better than her outdoor track and field school record of 57.75, moves her unofficially to No. 15 in the women's NCAA Division III national rankings as of Saturday evening.

Bourne signs with SPHL's Hunstville Havoc

Fredonia senior Taylor Bourne (Calgary, Alberta) has signed a contract with the Huntsville (Ala.) Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League. The signing comes in time for Bourne to potentially dress Saturday afternoon against the Mississippi River Kings. The Havoc will take a 21-20-3 record into the 2 p.m. game.

Trio cited includes SUNYAC Rookie of Year

Fredonia placed three players on the 2015-16 SUNYAC Women's Basketball All-Conference Team, including this year's Rookie of the Year. Freshman forward Jenna Einink (Mayville/Chautauqua Lake) was chosen as the top first-year player in a vote of the 10 conference coaches. She was also selected Third Team All-Conference while senior forward Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and junior guard Alexis Cheatham (Lockport/Lockport) made Second Team.

Mulcahy, Couperus win SUNYAC crowns

An exhausted Collin Mulcahy (Batavia/Batavia) collapsed into his coach's arms on Saturday after winning a SUNYAC Championship in the one-mile run at Brockport on the second day of SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. His time 4:08.76 puts him at No. 4 in NCAA Division III as of Saturday evening. On the women's side, Sarah Couperus (Marion, N.Y./Marion) won a SUNYAC title in the high jump with a personal best clearance of 1.63 meters.

Schreier ties record, DMRs win at SUNYACs

Sophomore Julia Schreier (Lockport/Starpoint) tied Fredonia's school record during the first day of competition at SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Brockport. Her clearance of 3.50 meters was identical to the mark teammate Olivia Kurbs (Lockport/Lockport) set at the same meet in 2015.

Santiago 2nd at Regional, will join Carlson at NCAAs

Rafael Santiago (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) turned in a second-place finish while teammate Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) was third off the 1-meter board at the Regional Diving Meet at Cortland on Friday. The top three finishers off each board are guaranteed a spot at the Division III Championships. Carlson had qualified the day before off the 3-meter board, and Santiago's finish means he'll be joining Carlson an the national meet.
