Fredonia summer camp offerings

The Fredonia Blue Devils will offer a number of sports camps at the university this summer. The five-day Soccer Camp is up first beginning on Sunday, June 28. During the months of July and August, basketball, hockey, diving, swimming and volleyball/sports performance camps will take place. Click HERE for a comprehensive list.

Solid play continues, volleyball team now 8-1

The Fredonia women's early-season win streak was finally snapped at the Hawks Invitational at New Paltz on Saturday, but only by the slimmest of margins. After winning its first seven matches, Stockton was the first team to down the Devils this year, winning three sets to two. Stockton claimed the tie-breaking set, 16-14.

Devils finish No. 11 in nation

Fredonia moved up six spots to No. 11 in the final NCAA Division III women's lacrosse rankings. The No. 11 ranking is the best in program history. Fredonia has been playing women's lacrosse for 20 seasons.

Desens reaches collegiate goal at NCAAs

Nicole Desens was adamant in her pre-meet interview that if she could throw the discus 45 meters at nationals, she'd reach her goal as a collegiate athlete. She did just that on May 21 at NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, throwing the discus 45.02 meters on her second try. She finished 13th out of 22 competitors, set a new personal best for her career and broke the school record.

Desens makes NCAA discus field

Fredonia senior Nicole Desens (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington) has qualified for the NCAA Divsiion III Outdoor Track & Field championship meet in the women's discus. Desens is ranked 19th in a field of 22 in the event, which will be contested starting 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at St. Lawrence University. The top nine throwers will advance to finals later Thursday, and the top eight will earn All-American status.

Super season comes to a close

The greatest season in Fredonia women's lacrosse history is over. The Blue Devils were eliminated from the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse tournament Sunday with a 16-9 quarterfinal loss to regional host Franklin and Marshall.

All-American awards for NCAA-bound duo

Fredonia senior women's lacrosse players Katie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) and Marissa Cussins (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post West) will have a new title next to their names when they take the field Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Regional. All-American. Kleine, a fifth-year senior midfielder, and Cussins, a senior attacker, were named Second Team All-American today by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Kleine, Hess take home top athlete awards

Katie Kleine and Zakk Hess were named the top Fredonia Blue Devil student-athletes for the 2014-15 school year during the annual Awards Gala held Sunday on campus. Kleine was named Female Athlete of the Year for her achievement in women's soccer and women's lacrosse. Distance runner Hess was cited as the Male Athlete of the Year.
