Italian opera is featured in concert

Lyric Arts International Singers of 2009 will perform on Tuesday, May 5 in Rosch Recital Hall.
Fredonia's Lyric Arts International singers will present Musica e Cantante at a concert Tuesday, May 5, at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall.

Admission is $3.

Audience members will be treated to scenes and ensembles from the Italian operatic repertoire, including La Cenerentola, La Traviata, Le nozze de Figaro and others.

The concert is presented by the Lyric Arts International program at SUNY Fredonia, and made possible in part with generous support from the Carnahan-Jackson Foundation for the Humanities of the Fredonia College Foundation and the Alumni Affairs Office.

Later this month, the Lyric Arts group will travel to the Marche region of Italy, where they will perform and be hosted by the Postacchini String Quartet, all members of the Orchestra da camara delle Marche. The quartet will return to SUNY Fredonia in September to present its own string quartet program. While in Italy, 13 SUNY Fredonia Lyric Arts will perform Italian opera scenes in four historic theatres throughout the Marche region, and will have master clases with world renowned Italian tenor Giovanni Sabbatini, as well as attend operas and concerts during a visit to Rome.
