Liberal Arts and Sciences Brown Bag Lecture Series presents: 'Medicine and Technology'
The Liberal Arts and Sciences Brown Bag Lecture Series will be holding a “Medicine and Technology” free lecture on Tuesday, April 29, at noon in Williams Center Room S204.
The lecture is open to students, faculty, staff, administrators and the general public. Anyone interested in medicine or the impact of technology on the practice of medicine today is encouraged to attend.
Lecturer H. Gordon Deen, M.D., is a neurosurgeon at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. Dr. Deen will address how technology has changed the field of medicine, in keeping with the technology theme that the Brown Bag Lecture established for the 2013-2014 series.
Dr. Deen graduated with a Sc.B. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and received his M.D. from the College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama. He completed his internship at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Norfolk, Va., and his Residency in Neurological Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He also has an M.S. degree from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Deen is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and holds the academic rank of Professor of Neurosurgery. His interests include complex spinal surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Deen has been on the staff at Mayo for 25 years, and has published more than 80 original articles, book chapters and abstracts. He serves on the editorial board of Practical Reviews in Neurosurgery, is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and the Neurosurgical Society of America, and has multiple listings in "Best Doctors in America."
Dr. Dean’s lecture ends the Liberal Arts and Sciences Brown Bag Lecture series for the academic year.
