Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

Graduates from Fredonia's TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program help to positively enhance a person's life on a daily basis. If you are committed to life-enhancing multilingual and multicultural student learning, if you are prepared to teach and learn with and from students with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, if you are willing to meet high and rigorous professional standards, then the TESOL graduate program is the right program for you.

Our program provides graduates:

  • New York State preK-12 Teaching Certification*
  • The ability to teach English both here and abroad
  • The opportunity to assist immigrants in adapting to their new community
  • The tools to provide essential services to English language learners of all ages
  • A springboard to Ph.D. programs

TESOL Program Options

We offer prospective applicants four options to prepare for a career TESOL.

Course Scheduling

Our hybrid program offers several online courses along with a traditional classroom experience. On campus, classes are usually offered Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings starting at 4:30 P.M. A typical full-time graduate TESOL student (9 credit hours per semester) takes two years to complete their degree.

Our Faculty

Our graduates are trained by experts in language policy, forensic linguistics, and bilingual education; so graduates of the program are well-prepared for the classrooms of tomorrow.
