Requirements for Graduate Admissions

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.0 (May be offered conditional admission for lower GPA)
  • Online application

    • Minimum: 1 page (no maximum)
    • Topic: Educational & professional strengths & goals
    • Address to: Admissions committee
  • Transcripts
    • Official transcripts with degree conferral are required after you have completed your degree from your previous institution.  Official transcripts need to be sent to Fredonia directly from the institution(s) you attended.
    • Applicants who have attended or are attending SUNY Fredonia for their undergraduate degrees are not required to submit official transcripts, unless they are applying for the Speech-Language Pathology degree program.
  • Two recommendation letters
    • Online (preferred):see application for details
    • Offline: both letter and form are required

Accounting 

Who is eligible to apply

  • Required: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in accounting OR business, from a regionally accredited college/university (or international equivalent).
  • Required: All candidates must have completed a minimum of 12 credits in undergraduate accounting coursework, AND 21 credits in undergraduate business coursework.
    • Business coursework may be in any of the following areas:
      • Business statistics        
      • Business strategy
      • Computer science
      • Economics
      • Finance
      • Information technology and system
      • Management
      • Marketing
      • Operations management
      • Organizational behavior
      • Quantitative methods
    • Preferred: A cumulative 3.0 GPA or better, AND letter grade of C- (or better) in required coursework noted above. Please note: Candidates not meeting the preferred grade/GPA are encouraged to contact us and speak with an admissions advisor before applying.

What you will need to apply

  • Transcripts from all college/universities attended (undergraduate and graduate)
  • Two letters of recommendation. Letters should be from undergraduate faculty (preferably from faculty who taught in accounting), and/or professional sources like supervisors.
  • A self-authored essay responding to the following questions. Please keep your response to under 500 words total.
    • Why are you choosing to pursue an MBA in accounting at this time in your career?
    • What are you hoping to accomplish by doing so?
    • What excites you about being part of the SUNY Fredonia MBA-Accounting program?
  • CV or Resume (Optional)
  • Proof of CPA (Optional)

Child Advocacy Studies

  • Three references (instead of two letters of recommendation).

Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Program Requirements:

  1. Statement of Intent/Professional Statement should focus on the following:
    1. Your perception of potential success in forming effective and culturally relevant interpersonal relationships in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
    2. Your perception of your aptitude and ability to reach the level of demands placed upon you in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
    3. Your perception of the relevance of the Clinical Mental Health Program in meeting your career goals.
  2. An individual interview with program faculty may be scheduled with applicants.

Education (For graduate programs leading to New York State Certification)

Educational Leadership

  • Valid New York State Education Department (NYSED) teaching certification or equivalent in a core area. 
  • Master’s Degree in education or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • 3 years of satisfactory teaching or professional experience in a PreK-12 school or its equivalent.
  • Evidence of completion of DASA training for New York State (Applicants may be conditionally accepted pending completion of DASA).
  • Two written recommendations, one each from the applicant’s district superintendent and building principal.
  • GRE is not required for Educational Leadership.
