International application requirements
General Requirements
Review the general requirements for applicants to master's degree and advanced certificate programs. Some graduate programs have unique application requirements which are described below.
Preferred GPA: 3.0 (varies by department, see below) and a current Resume.
Apply to Grad School
- Official transcripts with degree conferral are required after you have completed your degree from your previous institution.
- Official transcripts need to be sent to Fredonia directly from the institution(s) you attended.
- Applicants who have attended or are attending SUNY Fredonia for their undergraduate degrees are not required to submit transcripts, unless they are applying for the Speech-Language Pathology degree program.
- International applicants must meet specific transcript requirements.

- Speech applicants must use the portal in the CSDCAS application
- Some Fredonia graduate programs require the contact information of three references instead of two letters of recommendation. See your program for details.
- One page preferred
- Topic: See specific program requirements. If none are listed, please write a one-page essay about your educational and professional strengths and your reasons for pursuing your chosen degree program.

Requirements for Graduate Admissions
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Cumulative GPA: 3.0 (May be offered conditional admission for lower GPA)
- Online application
- $75 application fee
- Resume
- Statement of Intent
- Minimum: 1 page (no maximum)
- Topic: Educational & professional strengths & goals
- Address to: Admissions committee

Child Advocacy Studies
- Three references (instead of two letters of recommendation).
Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Program Requirements:
- Statement of Intent/Professional Statement should focus on the following:
- Your perception of potential success in forming effective and culturally relevant interpersonal relationships in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
- Your perception of your aptitude and ability to reach the level of demands placed upon you in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
- Your perception of the relevance of the Clinical Mental Health Program in meeting your career goals.
- An individual interview with program faculty may be scheduled with applicants.
Education (For graduate programs leading to New York State Certification)
Educational Leadership
- Valid New York State Education Department (NYSED) teaching certification or equivalent in a core area.
- Master’s Degree in education or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- 3 years of satisfactory teaching or professional experience in a PreK-12 school or its equivalent.
- Evidence of completion of DASA training for New York State (Applicants may be conditionally accepted pending completion of DASA).
- Two written recommendations, one each from the applicant’s district superintendent and building principal.
- GRE is not required for Educational Leadership.
MBA - Accounting
- Two letters of recommendation. Letters should be from undergraduate faculty (preferably from faculty who taught in accounting), and/or professional sources like supervisors.
- Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited institution.
- Proof of CPA (Optional)
- You must submit essay responses to the questions detailed below. Please keep your response to under 500 words total. The admissions committee will review both the content of your responses and your ability to communicate clearly in writing.
