Private Scholarships

Scholarships are administered by many third-party organizations to help support students who wish to study overseas.  Private scholarships can be for students in specific majors or those wishing to study in certain regions of the world.  Use the resources below to explore private means of funding study abroad scholarships.

Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program

The Whitaker Program supports biomedical engineers (and bioengineers), from graduating seniors through post-doctorates, in conducting high-quality research or study overseas.

CIEE Bowman Travel Grants 

Applicants for CIEE Bowman Travel Grants must be undergraduate students (U.S. citizens or permanent residents only) matriculated at an American college or university who will be participating in a study abroad program in one of the designated countries. Awards are issued as vouchers to Council Travel, to be exchanged for round-trip airline tickets to the program destination.

Summer Scholarships to Study Spanish in Spain at the University of Málaga (2 Awards)

Two scholarships are being awarded, each for a one-month Spanish summer course at the University of Málaga (20 lessons per week). The awards include the full course cost as well as accommodation in a shared student apartment (single room). Airfare and personal spending are not included in the award. The value of each award is of 800 Euros (approximately $1,000).
