Showcase SUNY Fredonia's Reach through Bicentennial Year Summertime Fun
Ever heard of the Flat Stanley Project? If you're a teacher, parent/guardian, grandparent, or simply enjoy children's literature, I'm sure you have. Created by long-time educator Dale Hubert, M.Ed. in 1995 and based on the 1964 book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown, the concept is simple: a cutout of a character makes its way to different parts of the word through friendly outreach and personal exchange. The project simultaneously highlights the interconnectedness of our world and the reach one individual or thing can have.
Join the Fun!
This summer, we'd like to harken back to the simpler days of childhood and jump on the Flat Stanley train - with a Fredonia twist! The ask is simple: Visit the link below, print and cut out your own Flat Freddy (the Blue Devil), and send us a snapshot of our beloved mascot enjoying summertime - whether that's traveling with you abroad, enjoying a staycation, or serving as your office intern for a day. We'll post the photo on our social media for the alumni community to enjoy.
With the help of Flat Freddy, we can all feel connected this summer as we celebrate our Bicentennial year while showcasing the growing reach that our beloved Fredonia community has. (There will even be a special prize for the photos that garner the most likes, shares, and comments!) We can't wait to see all of the unique places that Flat Freddy will visit this summer - and what kind of fun activities he might partake in.
