The Williams Center Multipurpose Room will once again be filled with representatives from organizations meeting students to discuss internship and employment opportunities.

Fredonia’s Career Development Office (CDO) will host its annual Job & Internship Expo on Wednesday, March 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Williams Center. The event is free and open to current students as well as Fredonia alumni.

The Job & Internship Expo is expected to bring to campus more than 80 organizations eager to discuss their potential job and internship openings with Fredonia candidates. Represented industries are expected to include business, media, financial services, manufacturing, sports and recreation, technology, health and human service agencies, retail management, government, law enforcement, and many other fields, offering full- and part-time positions, summer jobs and/or paid or for-credit internships.

Representatives will also be available to speak to students more generally about careers in those fields, making it an excellent learning opportunity for students in all class years. A bonus event will be hosted simultaneously, featuring local community organizations in need of student volunteers. During the expo, representatives will be available in the Blue Lounge to speak with students and groups or clubs.

Organizations expected to participate are based in Erie and Chautauqua counties, as well as the Rochester area, New York state and beyond. Many organizations will be represented by Fredonia alumni and current Fredonia interns. Some organizations may return for on-campus interviews in the weeks following the event.

Immediately following the expo, the Fredonia Technology Incubator will provide transportation to and from their facility to host an Incubator Showcase & Open House, using the appropriate form, for any students interested in learning more about their internship and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Additionally, the Service Collaborative will host a presentation in the Williams Center at 4 p.m. for students interested in a gap year AmeriCorps experience in western New York.

A full list of participating organizations can be found online, and participants will continue to be added as the event approaches.

Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally, bring several copies of their résumés or work portfolios and come prepared by researching the employers and their industries before the event. Job postings from the employers attending will be available in FREDNetwork and the CDO’s job and internship posting database, located on the CDO website. The CDO encourages students who wish to brush up their resume or their interviewing skill before the event to schedule an appointment using FREDNetwork.
