Technology Incubator receives $300,000 grant from Oishei Foundation

SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator, a development projected to advance economic growth in Western New York from its base in downtown Dunkirk, has been awarded a $300,000 “challenge grant” from the John R. Oishei Foundation. The incubator project is slated to receive an annual appropriation of $100,000 for three years from the foundation, based in Buffalo, provided that SUNY Fredonia successfully matches that gift — dollar for dollar — from the local business community, alumni and friends, in each of the next three years.

SUNY Fredonia launches new statewide training program for code compliance officials

Uniquely designed for a commercial environment rather than residential code compliance, an in-service training program for code compliance officers statewide was the brainchild of Anne Podolak, director of environmental health and safety, and Markus Kessler, director of facilities planning, at SUNY Fredonia. The program launched this month at SUNY Fredonia with 83 registered professionals from public and private colleges, as well as many state agencies.

Theatre day camp for children planned

The SUNY Fredonia Department of Theatre and Dance is producing a week-long day camp called “PLAYGROUND” to provide a campus-based cultural experience that reaches out to a small group of children in a unique way. The camp runs from Aug. 17 to 22.
