Class of 2009 ready for the world

The Class of 2009 went out in style, as nearly 1,300 strong were conferred with undergraduate and graduate degrees by SUNY Fredonia's faculty and administration, while thousands of proud family and friends stood by. Joining them to help celebrate their Commencement ceremonies were keynote speaker and New York State Senator Cathy Young, as well as U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer.

The 80s come alive in annual High School Math/Science Challenge

SUNY Fredonia will once again welcome approximately 300 students from high schools throughout western New York on Thursday, May 21, to compete in the ninth annual High School Mathematics and Science Challenge. The competition requires students to use their classroom knowledge of mathematics and science and apply it first-hand in order to succeed in various events.

Guitar Quartet to embark on Spain tour

The Fredonia Guitar Quartet will soon be departing for a concert tour of Spain. This student guitar ensemble, directed by Music Professor James Piorkowski, has been invited to perform at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla (May 22nd), the Centro de Estudios Hispánicos de Segovia - a 15th-century palace in Nieva (May 24), and at the Universidad de Oviedo (May 26).

Guest artist Abou Sylla to perform and give workshop

The Fredonia School of Music announced that guest artist Abou Sylla will give a drum workshop and Balafon concert in Mason Hall Room 1051 on Wednesday, May 20. The workshop starts at 6 and the concert at 8. Participants and listeners are invited to make a $20 donation for each event.
