English professors Aimee Nezhukumatathil and Emily VanDette have set up a fundraising campaign, inspired by their children, to support the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Donors will receive original art created by the children depicting sea creatures found in the Philippines. All donations go to "ShelterBox," an international disaster relief agency that is currently working in the Philippines.
Dr. Richard Robinson, professor of finance at SUNY Fredonia, will give a presentation, “Positive Duty in Business and Its Practical Limits,” on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at Room 101 Jewett Hall.
A recognition ceremony for more than 115 new members of the SUNY Fredonia chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society was held Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Georgie Fu, a 2012 summa cum laude graduate, SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence recipient and a former Golden Key chapter president, gave the keynote address.
“From Local to Global: Lessons Learned from the Cross-Cultural Learning Living Community,” is the second panel discussion of a four part event that allows international faculty and students to come together and share their stories with our campus community.
The Hillman Opera will present two performances of Gioachino Rossini’s famous work “La Cenerentola” (Cinderella) in November at SUNY Fredonia. It will be a staged concert version of the classic opera, sung in the original Italian with English supertitles projected above the stage. Performances will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16 in King Concert Hall.

An estimated 1,200 people filled Steele Hall Arena to witness the recognition of several hundred students and donors whose gifts have made higher education a reality for so many. New endowments that are among more than 400 created through the Fredonia College Foundation awarded their first scholarships, a contributing factor in the attendance rise of the Saturday, Oct. 26, gathering.

The meet and greet is free and open to the community, part of the nine-time Grammy artist’s three-day residency at SUNY Fredonia.
