The New Horizons Band of Western New York will present a Fall Concert at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Forestville High School Auditorium in Forestville, NY. The concert is free, but the Forestville High School Band Council will be accepting food (non-perishable) and monetary donations for the Forestville Neighbor to Neighbor Food Pantry.

A festival that celebrates the 200th anniversary of the births of three prominent 19th century piano composers – Frederick Chopin, Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt – will be presented by the SUNY Fredonia School of Music with public performances by guest pianists on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 6 and 7, at Rosch Recital Hall.
October 30th event includes master classes for each instrument, a fiddling clinic with guest artist Emily Schaad, an Improv session with Dr. David Rudge and a final concert. The day ends with a post-concert reception. All participants will enjoy lunch as a group on campus, the cost of which is included in the registration fee.
Jonathan Mann, assistant professor of Piano in the School of Music, will make his Carnegie Hall debut on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m. in the New York City landmark’s Weill Concert Hall. Mann was awarded this prestigious honor after being selected as a finalist in the Todd-Davis Germaine Classical Fellows Competition in 2009. He will premiere a piece written for him by Dr. Robert Deemer, assistant professor of Composition.
The $3 million expansion to the north end of Mason Hall includes two rooms which are two to three times the size of any existing rehearsal space in Mason. They were designed and built specifically to accommodate large band and orchestral groups which have grown to as many as 120 members.
