Basoonist Koepke to be first guest for new series

Striking Notes is a new series sponsored by the Western New York Chamber Orchestra seeking to introduce guest artists to SUNY Fredonia students in a new way. The first guest is Laura Koepke, bassoon professor at SUNY Fredonia, who will be speaking Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. in the Williams Center. She is a featured performer in the WNYCO concert Feb. 21. Guest artists will include musicians from all over the country. Koepke’s presentation is the first of the continuing series.

Ethos New Music Society hosts Raschèr Saxophone Quartet

The Ethos New Music Society will be hosting the world-renowned Raschèr Saxophone Quartet on Feb. 3. The concert will include a performance of Giya Kancheli’s “Amao Omi” with the Fredonia Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Donald Lang, and a performance of a new commissioned work by SUNY Fredonia composition professor Rob Deemer.
