Zeltsman is a leading marimba performer, recording artist, teacher, author and festival director who has premiered over 125 solo and chamber marimba works. These include pieces by Paul Simon, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gunther Schuller, Carla Bley, Robert Aldridge and Lyle Mays. Zeltsman has presented recitals and marimba master classes across the U.S. and Europe and in Japan and Mexico.
Area high school juniors interested in starting their college career early are invited to attend an informational meeting concerning SUNY Fredonia’s “3-1-3 Program” on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m., in Room 204 A-B of the Williams Center. The 3-1-3 program allows students to begin taking courses on campus at SUNY Fredonia as fully-admitted students during their senior year in high school, regardless of where they intend to go to college after high school.
Sarah Ficarro, of Owego, N.Y., has been named Student of the Month for September at SUNY Fredonia by the Residence Life Office. Sarah was nominated for this award by faculty member John Crawford, who teaches in the department of history and is assistant coach of swimming and diving.

The Visiting Writers Series of the Department of English at SUNY Fredonia is hosting a visit on Thursday, April 5, by alumna Christina Olson, ‘03, to speak to writers, English majors and minors, faculty and staff, and all those interested in creative writing.
Leigh Howard Stevens, Hall of Fame marimba player, will perform in Rosch Recital Hall on Monday, Jan. 23, at 8 p.m.. He will give a master class prior to that at 4 p.m. in Mason Hall Room 1080. Hailed by TIME Magazine as “the world’s greatest classical marimbist,”Leigh Howard Stevens will perform repertoire that ranges from the Preludes and Fugues of J. S. Bach to original marimba works written expressly for him.
In order to ensure the opening of the Williams Center in time for the fall 2012 semester, Old Main Drive will be one-way from Science Drive to Ring Road, as shown above, until the end of March. Through traffic will be allowed from Temple Street to Ring Road, but not in the other direction. The suggested detour is shown in the illustration at right.
